We will show you the real Africa and put together tailor-made tours for you. As Kenyans we can advise you comprehensively and individually and take over your travel planning at fair prices. Every private trip is tailored to the possibilities and wishes of our customers.
We offer authentic and exclusive encounters with locals and overnight stays in ecologically and carefully managed accommodation. We take you into the impressive expanses and the grandiose and charming landscapes of Kenya: Impressive animal sightings, expertly guided tours and friendly, cosmopolitan guides who work seriously and reliably. Personally accompanied by Eco Safari Ltd. partner Ekai Peter Lomelo, and twice a year guided tours by Richard Schmid. Our guides have a well-founded knowledge which they are happy to pass on. Our guides try to provide you with an unforgettable journey and make sure that you don't miss anything. Nevertheless, despite good organization and planning, Africa always remains a small adventure. A breakdown, rough terrain or impassable roads can lead to delays and waiting times. This is where the African way is most beautiful. With calmness and a pinch of humour you can best meet the unforeseen. Even if transfers take a long time and are tiring, there is always something unknown to discover on the trips.
You can take your tailor-made safari at any time. You determine the time. We will be happy to advise you on the ideal travel time.
Costs start at approx. CHF 2800 per person for an 8-day trip.
Of course you decide how long your safari should last. The price depends on the duration and the accommodation.

Richard Schmid regularly conducts safaris in Kenya on fixed dates. The focus is on establishing an understanding of wildlife. His closeness to the country and its people make these trips a special experience for you. They are aimed at people who appreciate a personal accompaniment by a Swiss guide and want to discover Kenya exclusively and personally.
Would you like to get to know Africa's wildlife better and discover its natural treasures? Our offer "The bush basics" is an educational journey with great recreational value. You will spend the night in an enchanting lodge in an incomparably beautiful location and in a tent camp in the middle of the bush, from where you will mainly explore the savannah on foot with experienced guides. We will explain to you the life of large animals, such as elephants, rhinos, hippos and of course cats of prey. But also the small animals such as birds or insects have their ecological meaning and will be examined more closely. Let us take you into this unique world.
Life in Africa and especially in the bush is extremely exciting and impressive. If you would like to relive the many great impressions quietly, we recommend that you enjoy a few days by the sea after your trip. Additional days at the Indian Ocean can be organized individually. We will be happy to advise you if you wish to extend your stay.
Our explorations will always focus on the functions of ecosystems and the ecological role of animals and plants in them. We will concentrate on the following topics:

Kenya is too beautiful to leave right after the exciting safari. Take your time to review the journey and the many impressions. Extend your journey in a bungalow on one of Kenya's beautiful dream beaches. Dive into crystal clear water, discover lonely bays or hidden beaches.
Also we recommend selected local hotels, which have charm and of which we are confident of their management and ecology. We will be happy to advise you and put together your relaxation programme.
Eco Safari has partnered with Turtle Bay, a hotel that promotes sustainable and ecological tourism and has been highly rated by Tripadvisor. Turtle Bay is located north of Mombasa in Watamu in the Marine Park (sanctuary) and is a medium-sized hotel directly on a long sandy beach. The name Turtle Bay comes from the leatherback turtles that come to the beaches to lay their eggs.
While the hotels around Mombasa often have crowded beaches, Watamu is quieter but still offers a lot to the guests. Water sports such as swimming, snorkelling, diving, kiting and windsurfing are possible. It is wonderful to swim at sunrise and experience how the day wakes up.
The hotel is especially suitable for families.
Whoever wants to bring variety into beach life can visit for example a Turtle Rescue Center, the mangrove forests or Malindi. A boat tour to the nearby reef is also interesting.
Our trips are exclusive, because they are tailor-made, but due to the simpler way of travelling they are also budget friendly. For special trips, of course the prices are fixed, for individual private trips the price depends on your requirements and your budget. The prices do not include flights, as nowadays, you can easily book them yourself.
We try to leave as small an ecological footprint as possible on our trips and choose appropriate accommodation. We offer the whole range, from simple tents to ecologically managed comfortable lodges. Of course we also organize your dream accommodation at the lodge of your choice.

With Eco Safari you can get to know Africa in different ways:
With us you travel off the beaten track, individually, safely and close to nature. To make sure your thoughts can keep up with the travelling, we always arrange for rest days and breaks. Our flexible schedules also allow spontaneous visits to a market or a longer stay to make exciting encounters with people and animals possible.
In the evening we sit together comfortably round the campfire, free of Wifi and talk about the experiences of the day. Or else read an exciting book.
Look forward to the real Africa, sound background knowledge, exciting encounters with the Maasai and a unique wildlife in the vastness of Kenya. A luxuriant nature and a fascinating culture await you.
We travel in different areas and plan the tours so that they meet your needs. Below are some area descriptions.
A huge ecosystem, bordering Tanzania (Serengeti). Here you can experience the great migration of animals from June to September - a unique spectacle and also known as the eighth wonder of the world. In search of food, countless zebras, wildebeests and antelopes migrate across the plains. And where there are wildebeests and zebras, lions, hyenas and other predators lurk for their prey.
Also here you meet the Maasai. The area is flat and has large steppes as well as swampy areas. Amboseli is known for its large herds of elephants and its biodiversity. The park borders on Tanzania. Travelling through the park, you see the mighty Kilimanjaro as a wonderful setting in the background.
The northern park is home to the “net giraffe” and the Grevy zebra, which are only found in this part of Africa. The park also became famous through the movie "Born Free" about the lioness Elsa.
The area west of Mount Kenya has a very pleasant climate and has several private Conservancies. Here you can undertake various one-day tours from a central place. For example to the small, but pretty Park Solio Ranch, where you can observe many white rhinos or to Ol Pejeta, where much is done for the wild life protection. The Aberdares are also easily accessible. At an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level, malaria hardly occurs at all.
The northern and rather dry park is also known for its elephants. Here you can meet the Samburu tribe of the same name.
The Tsavo area is one of the largest parks, but only part of it is open to visitors. The Tsavo is characterised by the red earth, volcanic landscapes and the home of many animal species. Because of the earth, the red elephants are at home here. The Tsavo East is easy to reach from the coast. As it is lower than the Maasei Mara or Laikipia plateaus, it is much warmer here.
Where there is water, hippos and birds of all kinds are at home. An Eldorado for bird lovers.
Meet the Kingfisher, the proud osprey, flamingos, the great white pelican and many other birds.
The huge forest area has up to 3900 meter high mountains and offers a fascinating fauna and flora. This park has hardly any tourists and is an insider tip. With a bit of luck you will discover hyenas, forest pigs, leopards or elephants and of course countless birds in the dense vegetation. Aberdares also offers guided hikes to the peaks or to waterfalls.
Mount Kenya is the second highest mountain in Africa and is popular with climbers. Of course you can also hike here. On a guided tour of several days you will experience different vegetation on the ascent. Eco Safari does not offer any such tours itself. We are happy to assist you and organise your Mount Kenya climb through partner organisations.
The extinct volcano Longonot can be climbed and a hike of about four hours on the crater rim is possible. Starting point is Lake Naivasha.
